Yes the standard demo import method doesn't work, but the manual method does somehow with lots of pain
Use Method 2 as described in the
1. switch to manual Import
2. Import by using the content.xml, customizer.dat, widgets.wie found in themefolder/lib/dummy-data/content
3. use the Step 4 and 5 of docs Method 2 import
4. go back to manual importer and click "Create Demo Content" and "Create Landing pages"
This way i've managed to import the demo pages and stuff
Still, it's a poor theme devjob ..the theme's themeforest comments is full of demo-import failures from the buyers
