Can WordPress.org stop being an Open Source? What will happen to the community if this happen?

I watched a video on YouTube recently and the blogger mentioned that with the new WordPress structure and pattern with the Block Builder, he sensed very soon WordPress will stop being an Open Source.

He also mentioned that that is why Brizzy and Elementor is trying to create their own cloud model.

So I thought in myself, I won't be surprised if they (Brizzy and Elementor) come up with their own modified version of WordPress which will be hosted strictly on their cloud and supports only their builder.

That brings me to asking the question:

Is it even possible for Automattic to declare that WordPress will no longer be an Open Source?
What will happen to the community if this happen?

Bright minds, let discuss because I am seriously worried for the future now.

LOL If it does, we'll null it! 🤣

Eventually they will release a free and a non-free versions of WP.
But I wouldn't worry about WP if Elementor will come up with their own CMS and more than sure it won't be free.

That's very true. And It will be more secured and fast.

You don't eat with fork and stuffs. We eat with five fingers, sometimes ten of them.

This one is GOOOOOOD. No kidding. LOL

I don't think so, wordpress business model isn't like that, wordpress started in 2003 and after almost 20years I think wordpress cms is always going to be open-source.
The founder used to go around the world hosting wordpress event (wordcamp) before covid. Now wordcamp event get hosted online. If wordpress cms isn't open-source anymore it's like betraying those who participate the event and the whole wordpress community.
