You have to go to licence and enter any key. I just had the same issue. Works fine when you enter a licence.

For anyone struggling to activate this plugin (I did). After trying to activate with a random key there will be a db entry in the wp_options table row 'wpmc_license'

You can edit the option_value to be:
a:5:{s:3:"key";s:12:"mytestkey123";s:5:"issue";N;s:4:"logs";N;s:7:"expires";s:8:"lifetime";s:7:"license";s:5:"valid";}

And then refresh the license page in Media Cleaner plugin. If you still are showing a license problem, do not try to reactivate. But if you are using an object cache (e.g. Redis), flush the object cache and then reload the license page again, and it should show green notice "Your license is active. Thanks a lot for your support " or similar.
